Doctor Werner entered practice with Dr. John Fisher in State College in 1978 and has been on staff at the Mount Nittany Medical Center since that time. He served as chief of staff at Mount Nittany Medical Center, which was then called Centre Community Hospital, from 1986-1989.
He has publications in all of the leading ophthalmology journals including the American Journal of Ophthalmology, Archives of Ophthalmology, Journal of Ophthalmology, and the Journal of the American Association for Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus. He is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Academy of Pediatric Ophthalmology and the Pennsylvania Academy of Ophthalmology. He is also a fellow in the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. Dr. Werner graduated from Colgate University with honors in 1969 and the University of Vermont Medical College in 1973. He performed his internship at the University of Virginia in 1973-1974 and his residency in ophthalmology at McGill University in Montreal from 1974 through 1977. He completed his fellowship in pediatric ophthalmology at the University of Iowa in 1977-1978. He is married to Susan Werner. They have three children, Michael, Debra and Sharon, all of whom graduated from State College Area High School. |
